Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Renewed for a Second Season

Agents-of-S.H.I.E.L.D.-Promo-ArtMarvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is an ABC created television show based on the Marvel Comics’ organization S.H.I.E.L.D., an acronym for “Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. This fictional agency works to keep the peace but also spy in a world full of superheroes and supernatural phenomena.

Produced by ABC Studios in conjunction with Marvel Television and Mutant Enemy, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. revolves around Phil Coulson although Clark Gregg’s role is being reprised. Agent Coulson has the responsibility of putting a small team of agents together who will handle an array of bizarre cases.

In the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Coulson along with his team investigated The Clairvoyant, leader of Project Centipede. Eventually, the agents determine that Project Centipede has a backing from Hydra and as such, they are forced to deal with its infiltration and destruction of the S.H.I.E.L.D.

The renewed season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to air on September 23, 2014, Coulson. This year, Coulson and his team of agents will work to restore trust from the public but also the government who followed the organization’s collapse as the result of Hydra’s attack.

Clark Gregg is returning as Phil Coulson, the lead agent responsible for overseeing a lot of the organization’s field operations. In addition, the show will star Ming-Na Wen, a weapons expert and ace pilot commonly referred to as “the Calvary”, a nickname she loathes.

Brett Dalton will portray Grant Ward, the black ops specialist for S.H.I.E.L.D., Chloe Bennet as Skye, a member of the hacktivist group “The Rising Tide” and civilian computer hacker, Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz, another agent with special skills in engineering, particularly weapons technology, Elizabeth Henstridge who was cast to play Jemma Simmons, an agent who specializes in alien and human life sciences, and finally, Nick Blood playing Lance Hunger, a mercenary who has affiliation with the organization.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. television show has achieved great success and fans are excited for yet another season. The series was awarded the “Critics’ Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series” in June 2013 and “The Most Promising New Fall Series” in September 2013, as well as several nominations to include “40th People’s Choice Awards”, “40th Saturn Awards”, and “66th Primetime Emmy Awards”.
