Criminal Minds Comes Back for its 10th Season

criminal-mindsFans of “Criminal Minds” are thrilled to learn that this police television show is coming back for its tenth season. This show originally aired in September of 2005 on CBS and since that time, it has had a huge following.

Criminal Minds follows a team of behavioral profilers based in Quantico, Virginia who work with the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is part of the National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime.

Unlike most other police programs, Criminal Minds is unique since the team uses profiling as the prime method of catching unknown subjects or simply, unsubs. Produced by The Mark Gordon Company in conjunction with CBS Television Studios, viewers and critics alike feel this next season will be even better than the previous nine.

CBS announced in March 2014 that the new season will premiere on October 1, 2014. As with the past seasons, the team will continue to track down criminals by using their keen profiling abilities. At this time, no changes to the cast have been announced so currently, it is anticipated that last year’s actors will return.

This includes Thomas Gibson who portrays the BAU team’s Unit Chief, Aaron Hotchner. As a former prosecutor, he has the most experience of all agents in the division. Shemar Moore is cast as Derek Morgan, a Supervisory Special Agent who is assertive, confident, and sometimes, hot tempered.

Matthew Gray Gubler is Dr. Spencer Reid, another Supervisory Special Agent who is genius, having graduated high school at age 12. In addition to PhDs in Chemistry, Engineering, and Mathematics, he holds Bas in Sociology and Psychology but currently working on a third BA in Philosophy.

Mandy Patinkin portray Jason Gideon, a Senior Supervisory Special Agent with a reputation for being the best profiler on the BAU team. Then there is Joe Mantegna as David Rossi, Senior Supervisory Special Agent with a tremendous amount of profiling experience.

Kirsten Vangsness plays Penelope Garcia, a brilliant computer geek who can find out anything about anyone and finally, Rachel Nichols as Ashley Seaver, an FBA academy cadet who replaces JJ as Communication’s Liaison when A.J. Cook left the show.

Because there are a few positions in the BAU open for season 10, viewers may see some new talent. Even if no new actors join Criminal Minds, this will be an exceptional year to watch.
