Halo 5: Guardians Gets Green Light for a 2015 Release Date

Halo 5Another one of Steven Spielberg’s Halo installments is currently under development. Following Halo 4: Forward unto Dawn, the new film, Halo 5: Guardians will be executive produced by Ridley Scott and the Scott Free TV President, David Zucker. The film will be directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, known for his incredible direction of Battlestar Galactica.

The reputation of Scott Ridley’s directing of huge box office hits to include Black Hawk Down, Gladiator, Alien, Prometheus, and Blade Runner, among others coupled with the successful creation of Prison Break by script writer Paul Scheuring’s leads critics to believe that Halo 5: Guardians will be one of the top films in 2015.

Halo 5: Guardians a sci-fi war movie, is being filmed in Belfast. The movie will reportedly be launched on Xbox One sometime in the fall of 2015. Beyond this, the Halo television series is expected to debut around the same time.

Currently, Showtime and Microsoft Xbox Entertainment Studios are in talks to partner for the upcoming television series. If a deal is finalized, the episodes would first run on the premium cable network. According to Bonnie Ross, General Manager for 343 Industries, the Halo series will be strong and complement the overall gaming experience.

The Halo 5: Guardians movie is highly anticipated and based on the futuristic military video game. Ross also stated that the Halo digital feature project is being filmed in collaboration between 343 Industries, Xbox Entertainment Studios, and Scott Free Productions.

The Halo 5: Guardians project is being funded by Northern Ireland Screen with filming taking place in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter area along T13, the city’s urban sports park, T13, this according to an official spokesperson of the multi-billion dollar video game franchise.

At this time, Scheuring is closely guarding details of the new Halo film but from an insider, the movie will fall in line with the earlier installment but with new twists and turns. There have also been rumors that Mike Colter who starred in The Good Wife, will have a major role in the new Halo 5: Guardians film although a list of possible cast members has not yet been released.
