mission-impossible-5Paramount and Skydance Productions confirm December 25, 2015 as the opening date for the fifth Mission: Impossible movie. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and once again starting Tom Cruise, the new Mission: Impossible film is expected to outshine all of the other franchise installments.

The first four Mission: Impossible movies combined have grossed more than $2 billion worldwide, making them the 16th highest grossing film series in history. The first movie, Mission: Impossible, was released in 1996, followed by Mission: Impossible II in 2000, Mission: Impossible III in 2006, and Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol in 2011.

At this time, details of the new Mission: Impossible movie have not been made public but with writer Drew Pearce and a cast that includes Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames, among many others, as well as rumors of Alex Baldwin and Jessica Chastain coming on board, it is sure to be a huge box office hit.

Producers of the movie realize they will be going up against a long list of other high-profile movies such as Star Wars: Episode VII, Inferno, Legendary, and Warcraft. As such, they are determined to go above and beyond the expectations of moviegoers, believing this new installment will surpass the $694.7 million grossed in 2011 when Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol hit theaters.

With the release of the new Mission: Impossible movie, coupled with all the other expected mega hits, going to the theater in December 2015 will be a great way to end the year.
