Houston vs BYU: Keys for the BYU Houston Cougars

Houston vs BYUThe (1-1) Houston Cougars will travel to face off against the (2-0) 25th ranked BYU Cougars in a matchup of Cougars. Houston was able to catch a break last week and got to face Grambling State, who they defeated 47-0. Houston will now face their toughest test yet, against this top 25-ranked BYU squad. Last week BYU rocked the nation when they were able to dominate the Texas Longhorns in Austin from start to finish 41-7. Their performance was able to vault them into the top 25 behind stout defensive play and some explosive playmakers on offense. BYU now get to face another Texas team but this time at home, and the crowd LaVell Edwards Stadium will surely have something to say.

–Keys for the Houston Cougars:

  • Houston head coach Tony Levine was able to make some adjustments from his teams first week loss to UTSA and make a strong showing against a much weaker Grambling State Tigers 47-0 The Houston defense will have its hands full against a very mobile quarterback and they need to stand strong if they have any hope of winning.
  • John O’Corn only has one passing touchdown on 67 total passing attempts on the year. O’Corn must find a way to get the ball to his receivers in the end zone if he wants his Cougar team to emerge victorious.

–Keys for the BYU Cougars

  • BYU was able to shock Texas last week, but it was no shock to a very confident BYU squad. Head coach Bronco Mendenhall will have his team ready to fire on all cylinders this week against a very capable Houston team.
  • Duel threat quarterback Taysom Hill leads his team with 489 yards passing and three passing touchdowns as well as 196 yards rushing and five additional touchdowns. Hill is clearly the player that the Cougars have chosen to lead their offense down the field and so far he has done a pretty good job. Taysom Hill has the nation watching and will need another strong performance in order to lead his team to victory this week.

–Favorite/Odds: BYU by 17.5 points

–Taysom Hill has proven himself to his teammates and to the first two teams that he has faced so far. Hill will again lead his team into battle, but obviously his defense will know what he is capable of. Houston has to find a way to stop the young phenom if they have any hope of a victory.
